Goodnight Mister Tom
15-18 November 2017
at the Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds

Based on Michelle Magorian's classic, award-winning novel, GOODNIGHT MISTER TOM is set during the dark and dangerous build-up to the Second World War.  The play follows sad William Beech, who is evacuated to the idyllic English countryside and builds a remarkable and moving friendship with the elderly recluse Tom Oakley.  All seems perfect until William is summoned by his mother back to London...

Winner of the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize and commended for the Carnegie Medal, Goodnight Mister Tom is now a world-wide literary favourite and continues to inspire audiences and bring generations together.

'David Wood's adaptation is both free and faithful .... story, contrast, tension, emotion; all are there ... children breathlessly attentive.'   (The Times, 7th February 2011)
