Roald Dahl's
The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) adapted for the stage by David Wood
9-12 November 2022
at the Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds
Directed by Ian Goodison
The story
In a quest to save the children of England from a horrible fate the BFG and young “human bean” Sophie set out together to defeat the grisly child-eating giants; Bloodbottler, Fleshlumpeater, Bonecruncher, Meatdripper, Childchewer, and Gizzardgulper.
In a whirl-wind adventure Sophie finds herself transported from her bedroom to the BFG’s cave in Giant Country, then to Dream Country before finally arriving at Buckingham Palace where they are helped in their fight by the Queen of England and the Heads of the Army and Airforce with their “bellypoppers”. This well-loved story of a dream-blowing, big friendly giant (BFG) and orphan girl Sophie promises to mix up heart-pounding adventures with life-long friendships, jumbly words and even some whizzpopping in front of the Queen of England. |
