David Almond’s much-loved novel is brought to the stage for the very first time. Written by David and his daughter, Freya, this is a major event brought to you by Leeds Children’s Theatre.
What should a puppet maker do when he’s old, alone, and all his puppets are gone?
High in his attic, surrounded by scraps, stories, and a lifetime of memories, Silvester creates one last puppet from a jumble of mismatched pieces.
And the puppet begins to move… to speak… to live.
Tender, imaginative, funny and quietly profound, Puppet is a heartwarming theatrical journey through creativity, loneliness, and the magic of making. As the line between reality and imagination gently blurs, this modern classic reminds us that it’s never too late for friendship, for wonder, and for the beautiful surprises that come when we dare to create something new. An entrancing show for all ages.
“Poignant and heartwarming” - Michael Morpurgo.
“A master storyteller.” - The Independent.
David Almond OBE, author of ‘Skellig’, is one of the world’s leading writers for young people. His work is published and performed all around the world.
Freya Almond-Palmer has a first class degree in Theatre and Performance from Leeds University and has worked with LCT for the past three years. This is their first stage collaboration.
