Congratulations to all of our members who were nominated for this year's Guild Awards, Judith Unwin, Ian Goodison, Caitlin Duggan, Harley McCormack, Jane Curtin and Jorge-Ann Cooper.
The ceremony took place on Saturday 2 September at the Carriageworks Theatre, where Judith, Harley and Jane received their Awards for their work with Leeds Children's Theatre. Another member of Leeds Children's Theatre, Janine Walker, also won an award for her performance in LIDOS' production of "Company" this season.
The organisers asked for our help as he wanted to have actors at the event playing children's fairytale characters. It's the second year they have held Dadstastic, and Leeds Children's Theatre's first time back to the building that had been our 'home' Leeds Civic Theatre until 2005. Well, they've certainly changed the place! Hard to believe it's been 12 years since we brought the curtain down, quite literally, with Leeds Children's Theatre staging the very final performance in May 2005 with Peter Pan. So, a fair bit of reminiscing was had by a few of us, but to prove the show must go on (or, the society anyway) it was great to see so many of our members (many too young or recently joined to know anything about the "old days") acting as ambassadors for Leeds Children's Theatre at Dadstastic. Here's a few pictures of the day (thanks Ian and Janine).
A huge thanks to all our actors, to Mandi for being so talented and doing a fab job with the makeup, to Jane for sorting out costumes and props, to our Tshirted reps who manned the info table, and of course to the mums who came down to help us during the day. I hope I've not missed anyone out - but A BIG THANK YOU to all of you who made it possible for us to be involved in Dadstastic Day.
On Saturday 19 November, when we have two performances of "The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents" (12noon and 5pm at the Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds), the venue has announced that it will also be hosting "The Leeds Big Bookend Children’s Festival" (11.30am-5pm).
If you have tickets to either of our performances on 19th November, you may want to allow yourself some extra time pre/post the performance because your tickets will allow you to entry the Festival Hub area where children take part in the craft activities. Just show your tickets at the entrance.

Leeds Children's Theatre was honoured to receive this year's NODA President's Cup, which was presented to us by NODA National President Mr Chris Ingram at the NODA AGM (Birmingham, September 2016). It was awarded in recognition of the success and unique nature of Leeds Children's Theatre - we are the only society that has a membership aged 7 to 70+ that exists to produce plays for children. Judith jointly received the award with us, in recognition of her work with Leeds Children's Theatre over the years.
Update(23 Feb 2016) - We regret to inform you that this show has been postponed.
