First of all we would like to offer a warm welcome to you from everyone here at Leeds Children's Theatre.
Founded in 1935, we are one of the many voluntary/amateur dramatic societies that until May 2005 were based at the Leeds Civic Theatre. We are members of the Leeds Civic Arts Guild and NODA.

Home is now "The Carriageworks" theatre, a newly built city centre venue right on Millennium Square, opposite the Civic Hall. We've been here since November 2005, relocating from the Leeds Civic Theatre (in the old Leeds Institute building) to make way for its development into the Leeds City Museum (should be finished in 2008).

Leeds Children's Theatre produce at least two shows every year, staged at The Carriageworks. As a society we are dedicated to the principle of quality affordable children's entertainment, in order to encourage the introduction of the theatrical experience for young children.

The group is staffed entirely by volunteers who offer their vast range of experience to the younger members, covering most aspects of theatrical production. The Leeds Children's Theatre committee is democratically elected and includes youth/junior representatives as well as the usual officers and officials.

Our popular Saturday morning drama workshops offer an excellent introduction to our group, and we currently have a two-year waiting list for places, so have had to close the list for the foreseeable future. Membership is open to all young people interested in theatre and adult membership is also available, although this is subject to committee approval, references and enhanced CRB checks.
